The mountains here are so incredible beautiful. The way the morning sun dances off the snowcapped peaks stops my heart takes my breath away. We patrol up and down those mountains day and night, in search of the counter-revolutionaries that prolong this stupid war that stand in the way of socialism.
I miss your garden full of wildflowers, mama. The only plants that grow up here hash and opium poppies. The other soldiers smoke grass all day and shoot at shadows. There's been no discipline since the lieutenant bought it, and that hopeless idiot the new captain took over.
One day I hope this war will be over, and I'll be able to come home to you and my darling Evgeniya. Until then, keep my spot by the fire.

High Speed Low Drag is a solo-journalling roleplaying game that allows you to follow the career of a special forces soldier, exploring their life both on and off the battlefield. You'll follow them into action, breathing in the acrid smell of cordite, then watch their life unravel as the pressures of armed conflict grind them into the dirt.
Based on the award-winning Blades in the Dark, High Speed Low Drag takes the Forged in the Dark framework and revolutionises it for solo play. Characters are simple to create, defined by their background and heritage which helps determine their starting stats.
The game includes four quickstart guides which give you all the information you need to create soldiers from the United States Navy SEALs in Vietnam, Soviet spetsnaz units in Afghanistan, French Foreign Legionnaires, and second world war era British commandos.
Like a choose-your-own-adventure story, you'll choose which stage comes next, roll some dice to find out what happens, then mix things up by drawing a random event card to add further complications to your soldier's life.
You'll get a lovingly illustrated 64-page zine, and a character record sheet.

Instead of the kind of the uncritical hero worship many war games fall into, High Speed Low Drag feels like an honest and well-intentioned deep dive into the life of a modern soldier. Complete with all it's trials and tribulations.
What games "fall" into uncritical hero worship and why is that bad? Why is a game better if it is critical of its protagonists? Games are supposed to be escapist fun. I don't see what's wrong with having heroic soldiers fighting against evil.
The fact that the "Evil" usually takes the form of specific ethnic groups/racial stereotypes and tends to fuel American Jingoistic nonsense?
